Kaizer Chiefs seem to have identified a new forward target to boost their squad in the current window.
It’s no secret that Chiefs are looking to bolster their attack in this coming window and may have a solution.
New coach Nasreddine Nabi has been crying out for a need to sign a quality and experienced striker. In the previous window, he was linked to his former trusted striker Fiston Mayele. There were even unconfirmed rumours that Chiefs made a R15 million bid for the player in that window. In the end, it was acknowledged by all parties that the deal would be difficult to push through. This because Pyramid FC were not willing to let go of their top goal scorer and asset after just one season.
Chiefs hoping to sign Lilepo
This publication reported on Friday that Chiefs will not be signing Ruben Del Campo. It has since been established that Amakhosi are set to sign Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United. That doesn’t look like the only striker that could enter Naturena, however. The club was also linked with a R10 million move for DRC Congo international forward Glody Lilepo from Valenciennes FC.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma citing French reports, Lilepo is not ready to leave Valenciennes. Furthermore, should he be forced out, he would prefer staying in Europe which would be bad news for Chiefs.
Player doesn’t want to leave Europe
“In a dramatic turn of events, Valenciennes’ player of the month for December, Glody Lilepo, is being pushed towards the exit by his current club, who are eager to sell the Congolese midfielder to Kaizer Chiefs. According to French publication FootMercato, the French Ligue 2 club has a Erm offer on the table worth €500,000 (±R9.6 million), but Lilepo, despite the financial incentives, is reluctant to make the move to the PSL. The French club is reportedly in need of cash and is looking to offload Lilepo to Kaizer Chiefs, who are interested in securing the player’s services. Despite the offer and the club’s apparent eagerness to push through the deal, Lilepo’s preferences lie firmly in Europe.” Wrote the publication.
