Kaizer Chiefs are hard at work behind the scenes to try and deal with issues of expiring contracts.
At the start of 2025, NINE players entered into the final six months of their contracts with Amakhosi.
And that meant they were already eligible to sign pre-contracts with clubs of their choices for the 2025-26 season.
However, no news of any of the nine stars signing elsewhere for the upcoming campaign were reported.
This means all of them are hopeful of staying with Chiefs for the foreseeable future despite the ongoing rebuilding phase.
Those whose contracts expire in June include Reeve Frosler, Edmilson Dove, Yusuf Maart, Mduduzi Shabalala, Edson Castillo, George Matlou, Ranga Chivaviro, Ashley du Preez and Njabulo Blom.
However, from the above-mentioned players, TWO players have already penned new deals although Chiefs are yet to make it public.
KAIZER CHIEFS KEEP TWO, SEVEN MADE TO WAIT…
As previously reported by The South African, Castillo will stay at Chiefs beyond June 2024 having signed a new two-year deal.
The second player that will stay put is none other than Du Preez who recently confirmed signing a new two-year deal with Amakhosi.
Now, from the remaining SEVEN, a number of players such as Shabalala, Dove and Frosler could also be retained.
The same, however, cannot be said about Maart, Matlou and Blom who’s on loan from US-based side St Louis City.
While Maart is the current captain, Chiefs are likely to restructure their team in the new season as Nasreddine Nabi is expected to overhaul the squad.
