Kaizer Chiefs are keen to offload Mduduzi Mdantsane to land a priority defender target in the next window.
Mdantsane will be the sacrificial lamb to sign Mabuya
Kaizer Chiefs have identified Richards Bay defender Lwandile Mabuya as an upgrade on their existing options at right-back. Currently, the club are reluctant to back Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons long-term. Otherwise, regular central midfielder Njabulo Blom has been deployed on that flank.
“From what we understand, there could be a player exchange between the two clubs (for Mabuya), mainly Mduduzi Mdantsane,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“Yes, Sabelo Radebe could also stay but that could be decided when everything is settled and agreed upon. Now they have to consider the offer Chiefs have tabled Rest then the rest (can happen) including a player exchange could follow.”
Khune rates himself as the GOAT
Instagram and TikTok’s blind ranking trend sees people name their top five or top ten in a category. The twist? They only get given one name/concept/brand at a time, without knowing what the others are. Recently, Itumeleng Khune was asked to do exactly this with the best goalkeepers ever to grace the South African top flight. He placed Ronwen Williams at the top of the rankings, only to change his mind when his name came up later in the challenge.
Golden Arrows clash could define the MTN8 race
Meanwhile, Chiefs fell to a dreadful 2-0 defeat at Richards Bay last time out. It was a result that left them in eighth place in the Betway Premiership with 29 points after 22 games. Ninth-placed Chippa can usurp Chiefs for that position if they win their two games in hand. Meanwhile, Golden Arrows in tenth have three games in hand on Amakhosi and only trail them by five points. It’s not unthinkable to suggest that Arrows could leapfrog their more illustrious rivals by the end of 2024-2025. Knox Mutizwa was the only goal-scorer as Arrows claimed a slender 1-0 win away to Polokwane but they followed that with a 1-0 loss at Magesi. Intriguingly, Abafana Bes’thende hosts Chiefs on March 30th at 15:30. That looks like a pivotal clash in the race for a top-eight finish.
