Kaizer Chiefs to hand McCarthy a role at Naturena in 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have big decisions in January, mainly involving player recruitment and promotion from the DDC side.

20-year-old defender Aden McCarthy has been impressive for the DDC side so far in 2024-2025. According to SoccerLaduma, Amakhosi’s technical team has recommended that the youngster be given a role in the first team from January 2025.

“They want to give him a chance. Most youngsters who were first promoted with him have been given the chance and they are doing very well. So, both technical teams, the senior team and the DDC are believed to have agreed that they should recall Aden (McCarthy) from the DDC as part of strengthening the defence. He has been there before and they know he can do it,” the Siya source stated.

“You remember he was promoted together with Happy Mashiane and others under Stuart Baxter but he didn’t really play for the team. He even went to Europe for trials and when he came back he was sent back to the DDC but now they see they need to have him back with the first team as they have seen there is a gap he can fill in,” said the second insider close to the club.

“I think he will be registered with the first team in January and have a jersey number. He has been doing very well for the DDC team and his influence there is noticeable and that’s why they are recalling him,” the insider concluded.

Chiefs to reshuffle their foreign roster

Tanzanian international midfield star Feisal Salum is commanding a massive new pay rise with his current club Azam FC. Simba SC and Kaizer Chiefs are both lurking with considerable intent. According to The Citizen, Amakhosi have the funds to out-bid Azam and offer him improved terms. However, Chiefs face a tough stage of negotiations if they want to lure the midfielder away from his homeland. The attacking midfield maestro scored 19 goals last term.

Salum would be a massive coup for the club but would take their quota of foreign players above five. However, new reports suggest Chiefs want to offload Edmilson Dove, Edson Castillo and misfiring attacker Christian Saile.
