Ranga Chivaviro subbed on in the 78th minute during Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 victory against Stellenbosch yesterday evening.
Three days before, against Cape Town City, Nasreddine Nabi introduced the 32-year-old in the 55th minute, suggesting a lack of confidence from the Tunisian manager – to put this into perspective, the former Marumo Gallants man started in all five of Kaizer Chiefs’ opening league games.
Adding more caution to the wind – that this may be his final season at the club – is the number of forwards linked with Kaizer Chiefs, including the prolific Michael Olunga, Fiston Mayele, Ruben del Campo and Ghanaian international Jonathan Sowah.
“There are a number of players – mainly strikers that the club is looking at,” a source confirmed.
“It has its priority according to what the coach wants but some of those top on the list are out of reach due to finances and that’s why they have to look at different alternatives.”
Chiefs rumours
- “Chiefs are now looking at Michael for January as well… they feel it will be much easier getting Michael at this point than to stay on the Mayele chase,” a Soccer Laduma source confirmed .
- “For now, they are not sure which striker they are getting or not. It is kind of hide and seek. And not they are monitoring and enquiring about Jonathan (Sowah)”.
More on Sowah
“Each team has scouts who identify players according to your needs at that particular time and that’s why they have offered Jonathan Sowah to Chiefs because the club needs a striker who can help them score goals.
“They have discovered that they can create chances but the main problem is finishing and this is one striker the scouts believe can help in that department, hence they have recommended him to the club.”
