A Kaizer Chiefs youngster on the brink of the first team has been spotted with a sleek new sports car, reportedly valued around R2 million.

Amakhosi rookie shows off an expensive car

19-year-old Kaizer Chiefs winger Nkosana Mbuthu has caused a stir on Instagram with his latest posts driving an expensive Range Rover. It’s not clear whether the car belongs to him, but either way, commenters are coming out of the woodwork. The post has since been deleted/archived. Interesting.

A Kaizer Chiefs baptism of fire

Rookie winger Nkosana Mbuthu had a baptism of fire in Chiefs’ recent 4-0 friendly defeat to Yanga. However, Tunisian coach Nabi has justified his choice not to substitute the then-18-year-old after selecting him out of position at left-back. Mbuthu, a player with zero minutes of competitive football to his name, is the son of former Chiefs star Patrick ‘Ace’ Mbuthu. He gave the ball away just before halftime, an error which directly led to Yanga’s second goal. However, Nabi didn’t want to damage the youngster’s confidence so he kept him on the pitch, sparing him the ignominy of an early substitution. The official website mentioned him as a defender but that’s not his stock-in-trade.

All you need to know about Kaizer Chiefs youngster Nkosana Mbuthu

Nkosana Mbuthu is tall, lanky and predominantly a left-winger. You can’t read too much into training jerseys but Mbuthu was donning the number 10 on the pre-season tour to Turkey so he’s highly thought of within the club’s structures. He seems to have a sweet left foot and plenty of tricks, flicks and flair in his toolbox. From this highlights clip it’s clear he is comfortable on both flanks but he looks especially good on the right-hand side, cutting in to cause danger and get shots away.
