Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly pulled off one of the most shocking transfers in recent memory!

The Amakhosi are desperately trying to build a competitive squad for head coach Nasreddine Nabi after a lackluster debut season at the club.

And now, new reports suggest the club have potentially reached an agreement to sign a player from their arch rivals Orlando Pirates!

The move has sent shockwaves through South African football, given the fierce rivalry between the two Soweto giants.

Rumours doing the rounds suggest Kaizer Chiefs have signed Orlando Pirates star winger Monnapule Saleng.

It’s a move not many saw coming however given Saleng’s recent situation at the Buccaneers, it does make some sense after all!

Monnapule Saleng’s 2024/25 season with Orlando Pirates was marred by off-field issues. In fact, he didn’t feature for the club in 2025 at all despite being fit and healthy.

Saleng did make a notable appearance for Bafana Bafana in March 2025 during a CHAN qualifier, adding to the mystery.

However, his situation at Pirates remained unresolved, leading to speculation about his future with the club.

Now, with reports suggesting the star winger has signed a pre-contract at Kaizer Chiefs, Saleng could soon represent his side’s arch rivals.

“Saleng, who has not played for his club since December last year, has been disgruntled and for a period of time was AWOL at The Ghosts, due to contractual issues. The former Free State Stars attacker is rumoured to have signed a pre-contract with Amakhosi, who are in desperate need of quality,” a Soccer Laduma report read.
