Kaizer Chiefs set to undergo another clean up

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly looking to revamp their squad, meaning they might have to let go several players this season.

Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi has already brought in 10 players but the club is still battling for a top eight finish in the Betway Premiership. Afer 21 matches, Chiefs have accumulated just 29 points under the Tunisian coach.

According to Soccer Laduma, another overhaul is looming at Kaizer Chiefs come end of the season.

“For them to bring in most of the players they are looking at and targeting, they need some players if not most players to leave,” a source told the outlet. “Something like an overhaul. This could be mainly in the attacking areas though the goalkeepin‹ and defence could also be affected (to a certain extent). That’s what they are working on now to balance the club in terms of playing personal but also the wage balance as well,” a source told the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs looking to inject fresh blood

Last season, Amakhosi parted ways with experienced players such as Ituemleng Khune, Sifiso Hlanti and Keagan Dolly. Under Nabi, the club has struggled for consistency especially in the league.

Having lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates this season, Kaizer Chiefs might need to make big changes next season to catch up. The two teams have won over 10 trophies between them in the past three seasons.

Amakhosi on the other hand, are still searching for their first silverware in 10 years. Having played to a goalless draw in their last match, Kaizer Chiefs will now face Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership clash this Sunday.
