Kaizer Chiefs set to make R10 million move for star right-back, according to Soccer Laduma.
Chiefs are preparing to make a massive bid to secure the services of Richards Bay’s standout defender, Lwandile Mabuya, ahead of the next season. A inside source revealed that the club is determined to strengthen its defensive line up by prioritizing Mabuya’s acquisition.
Chiefs ready to splash the cash
A reliable source confirmed that Amakhosi have been closely monitoring the KwaZulu-Natal-based defender and are now ready to table a substantial offer.
“They have looked at different right-backs and apparently want to settle for Lwandile (Mabuya). That’s why they are preparing a R10 million offer to present to Richards Bay,” a source revealed. “They value the player highly and believe this amount will be enough to convince Richards Bay. This will be a solid offer, considering how they have handled previous transfers.”
Reshaping the right-back position
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly planning a defensive overhaul, with Mabuya at the center of their right-back plans. The club plans to make changes by releasing some current players while promoting and signing young talents.
“For now, they have Dillan Solomons, Reeve Frosler, and Kwinika in that position, but no one is a clear first-choice option. That’s why the club is set to release some of them,” the insider disclosed. “They are also looking at promoting Under-20 international Sso Timba and signing former youth graduate Lungelo Bhengu from Cape Town Spurs. Mabuya is the top priority in these plans.”
Mabuya’s standout season at Richards Bay
At just 24 years old, Lwandile Mabuya has been a key player for Richards Bay this season. He has featured in 18 league matches so far, scoring 1 goal and providing two assists. His consistent performances have caught the attention of Chiefs’ management, making him their preferred target for the right-back position.
With Chiefs preparing a significant financial offer. It remains to be seen whether Richards Bay will accept the deal or hold out for more. One thing is certain—Kaizer Chiefs are serious about reinforcing their squad for the upcoming season.
