Kaizer Chiefs have allegedly cut their shortlist down to six names across all departments of the pitch. Here’s that rumoured list.

Kaizer Chiefs’ rumoured transfer wish list of six names

  • Djigui Diarra (goalkeeper, Yanga SC)
  • Lungelo Bhengu (right back, Cape Town Spurs)
  • Fawaaz Basadien (left back, Stellenbosch FC)
  • Neo Maema (attacking midfielder, Sundowns)
  • Feisal Salum (attacking midfielder, Azam FC)
  • Fiston Mayele (central striker, Pyramids FC)

Djigui Diarra

According to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs are keen on recruiting Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra. The 30-year-old has 65 caps for his country and worked with coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans where the player has been since 2021. The club is reportedly underwhelmed with new signing Fiacre Ntwari, while Brucs Bvuma isn’t seen as a long-term option between the sticks.

“We believe that the club is still working on finding the right goalkeeper, and that’s why they are still looking at all the different profiles of different goalkeepers. Yes, they have apparently shown interest in Toaster Nsabata and Xolani Ngcobo, but they have not finalized next season’s signings yet. Now they have inquired about Djigui (Diarra) from Yanga,” a source shared.

“They are apparently looking at a goalkeeper that they know with experience. So, out of the three, Nsabata, Ngcobo, and now Diarra, it seems the coaches know Diarra much better, having worked with him before in Tanzania,” revealed another source close to the club. “So, for now it’s just interest and an inquiry, so let’s see who they could finally get.”

Feisal Salum

Tanzanian goal-scoring midfielder Feisal Salum is staying put in his native country with Azam FC, according to SoccerLaduma via journalist Eric Ndagijimana. Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi knows the 27-year-old well after they worked together at Yanga SC. However, the Azam team have reinforced their desire to keep the star schemer. Chiefs might need to play hardball.

Fiston Mayele

According to SoccerLaduma, Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Fiston Mayele could have just received a boost. Reportedly, his current club Pyramids wants to sign Sekhukhune’s 23-year-old striker Andy Boyeli. That move could potentially pave the way for Chiefs to pounce on Mayele. The 31-year-old is renowned for his finishing ability, scoring 31 times and bagging seven assists in 69 appearances for the club.
