Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has proven to be one of the club’s best signings this season.

The 22-year-old has seamlessly integrated into the team under coach Nasreddine Nabi, having joined from Cape Town Spurs a few months ago. Dortley has also become a regular member of Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana national team. During the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, he started the majority of matches for the national team, surpassing competition from Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mothobi Mvala and Orlando Pirates’ Nkosinathi Sibisi.

At Kaizer Chiefs, Dortley has developed a strong partnership with Miguel Inacio at the back. Speaking to the media, the ex-Spurs defender said his long-term goal is to play overseas.

“Long-term, everyone’s dream is to go overseas,” said Dortley. “Everyone says Europe, but there are different countries in Europe. So, you can’t just say you want to go to Europe.

“I think for me is to play in a good league overseas. For me, my goal is to play at the highest level football has to offer.”

He says his goal now is to deliver for Amakhosi and help them win a trophy that has eluded them for 10 years.

“And my short-term goal is to give my best at Kaizer Chiefs and to win trophies,” he added as per FARPost. “That’s what the club has been missing and I want to give my 100% and my all to Kaizer Chiefs,” Dortley said.

How good has Rushwin been this season for clun and country?
