Kaizer Chiefs planning Mamelodi Sundowns swoop – Midfielder

Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring Masandawana midfielder Neo Maema as Miguel Cardoso prepares to offload several players in the offseason amid an overcrowded squad.

The 29-year-old has struggled for minutes, coming off the bench on five of his six league appearances this season, and is one of many Sundowns players on the brink of being cut. This has AmaKhosi licking their lips.

However, the three-time PSL winner is adamant about keeping his spot with the Tshwane-giants, pausing Kaizer Chiefs negotiations.

“What I can tell you is that we know and believe that Kaizer Chiefs are highly interested in signing him, but as a player, he has indicated that he wants to fight for his place at Sundowns, which seems very slim,” a source revealed.

“That’s why we believe his destiny is in his own hands—whether he joins Chiefs or not.”

Striker wanted

Kaizer Chiefs have longed for an out-and-out attacker as Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez continue to misfire. According to reports, the Soweto giants are eyeing Young Africans forward, Prince Dube.

“The club [Kaizer Chiefs] is evaluating the realistic chances of signing a striker, and as things stand, Prince [Dube] looks the most promising option,” a source confirmed.

“The other strikers they have been eyeing, such as Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, appear difficult to secure, which is why attention has shifted to Dube. He’s also performing well for Yanga at the moment,

“There are other positions the club wants to reinforce. But the striker and left-back positions are at the top of the agenda. The striker they are currently focusing on is Prince Dube from Yanga in Tanzania.”
