It’s no secret that Kaizer Chiefs are looking to boost their attack in the upcoming January transfer window.

Chiefs may also get the a late Christmas gift with reports that target Percy Tau could be available for free.

Chiefs lacking up front

In the current campaign there has been very little to suggest that will change. Currently, Chiefs are relying on Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez as their main source of goals. The duo have not been a overwhelming successes as again, like previous seasons have performed in flashes.

Furthermore, it was claimed that Tau, himself, was ready to reject Chiefs in hope of an overseas move. But now as those rumours dry up, there could be a pathway opened up for him to join Amakhosi. This after reports in Egypt suggest his deal at Al Ahly could be terminated in January!

Now Chiefs were rumoured to have two serious competitors for Tau’s signature on the continent. One being Zamalek, the rivals of Al Ahly. They have recently distanced themselves from the signing of the player. Then the other club was Wydad Casablanca, coached by his former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Rulani Mokwena. The South African coach waxed lyrical about the player and admitted he would love a reunion.

Now according to Wydad Head Executive Ait Menna, they are not interested in signing Tau, at least not in January.

Wydad pull out after Zamalek, however, Middle Eastern clubs could lurk

“We will not enter into negotiations with Al-Ahly duo Reda Selim and Percy Tau, and there has been no communication with the duo to contract with them in the upcoming transfers. What was recently circulated about the approaching signing of the Al-Ahly duo, Reda Selim and Percy Tau, is baseless, and we did not enter into negotiations with any of them.” The Wydad man said as per Soccer-Laduma

Amakhosi now favourites to sign Tau?

That would subsequently now leave Chiefs as the only interested African team of a high stature in Tau at the moment. There could, however, be Middle Eastern contenders still but none have been mentioned as of yet. Amakhosi fans, should the team management go all out to secure his signature in January?
