Kaizer Chiefs’ Nasreddine Nabi slams players after dropping points.
Nabi did not hold back his frustration after his team’s goalless draw against Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium. The result extends Chiefs’ inconsistent form in the Betway Premiership, with missed opportunities once again proving costly.
“We should have won”: Nabi frustrated by missed chances
Despite dominating possession and creating several clear-cut chances, Chiefs failed to find the back of the net. Nabi expressed his disappointment, making it clear that his players must take more responsibility in front of goal.
“It’s a match where we have so many regrets today to lose two points. It’s a game we should’ve won. We played against a team that had practically ten players defending inside their own box, yet we had opportunities. Clear chances to score. We should have finished them, but we didn’t, and it’s a big regret,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.
Chiefs must be more clinical in front of goal
Nabi dismissed the idea that passing was the issue, pointing instead to poor finishing.
“No, it’s not about the pass. It’s about putting the ball inside the net. The game is finished, and we need more responsibility. Whether you’re a player or staff member, you need to take more responsibility for Kaizer Chiefs. We are in this position because we lose matches and points like this. We control the game, we create chances, and then we don’t convert them,” he said.
Urgent call for players to step up
With another crucial game ahead this week, Nabi sent a strong message to his squad.
“It’s not possible. It’s Kaizer Chiefs, and this is not acceptable. We lost points today, but we have a game this week, and we need three points. Every team will play like this against us. Maybe a team with more quality will attack more, but we must be prepared.”
Nabi emphasized that every player must embrace the responsibility that comes with wearing the Kaizer Chiefs jersey.
“Every player here must remember that playing for Kaizer Chiefs is a big responsibility. Whether you get five minutes or ten minutes on the pitch, it matters. I’m really sorry for losing these points today. Every player at a big club should be able to hit the target when given a chance,” he concluded.
With the pressure mounting and the need for points growing more urgent, Chiefs must respond with a clinical performance in their next match. Will they finally turn possession into goals, or will their struggles in front of goal continue?
