Kaizer Chiefs lose star captain to PSL rivals in transfer twist

Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a significant loss as reserve team captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi signs with TS Galaxy on a three-year deal, according to iDiski Times

Nkosi, who recently lifted the DStv Diski Challenge title with Amakhosi’s development side, becomes the first official signing under Galaxy’s head coach, Adnan Beganovic.

Galaxy moved swiftly to secure the 21-year-old midfielder’s services ahead of the Betway Premiership season, capitalising on the fact that his Chiefs contract expires at the end of June.

Galaxy raid Chiefs’ development once again

Nkosi now joins a growing list of Chiefs academy products snapped up by TS Galaxy. Puso Dithejane and Khulumane Ndamane are among the other young talents who have made the switch.

The Rockets may not be done recruiting from their domestic rivals. A source close to the club suggests that TS Galaxy are monitoring creative midfielder Siphesihle Tati. His contract also runs until June 2025, but Galaxy appear poised to make a move should the opportunity arise.

Chiefs hits a wall but look towards Portugal

While Chiefs lose young talent to their rivals, they’re also facing frustration in the transfer market. The club made multiple attempts to sign left-back Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC, but none of the approaches were successful.

Now, the club has turned its attention to Europe.

“The latest left back they are monitoring is (Nkanyiso) Shinga but to convince him to leave Portugal will take a lot, as his team was promoted to the top flight,” a source told The South African.

“The only good thing is that his contract is coming to an end this season. But what I’m hearing is that he is an important player for them. Also they might offer him a new contract.”

Nkanyiso Shinga’s current club value him highly, especially after promotion to the top division. While the expiring contract presents a window of opportunity for Kaizer Chiefs, convincing him away from Portugal could prove difficult.

Did they make the right decision with Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi?
