Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan, who has worked closely with several PSL stars, including reigning Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi, believes signing Sipho Mbule and Thembinkosi Lorch would be a mistake, albeit on a free.
“What’s important right now for Kaizer Chiefs is to maintain the team spirit, I wouldn’t advise them to sign Mbule and Lorch even if they were free, to be honest,” Khan told Soccer Beat podcast.
“The two players come with a lot of baggage. They’re good players, but what they do off the field is going to influence what happens on the field.”
Kaizer Chiefs, judging by their past history, might not be able to resist.
A new youngster in Kaizer Chiefs’ ranks
According to reports, promising baller Naledi Hlongwane has signed a five-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs.
The 19-year-old striker has eleven goals this season, and was a standout during last year’s Carling All-Stars match against Magesi.
“What I can tell you is the five-year deal is the one believed to have been agreed upon by all parties,” a Kaizer Chiefs inside source revealed.
“Yes, the first time it was apparently proposed for a three-year deal. But the club [Kaizer Chiefs] felt they needed to keep the striker for a long time. So that’s why, finally, they came up with a five-year contract. This one is as good as done. I don’t think there will be any changes now.”
Do you agree with Khan?
