Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons says the team have put their disappointing recent results behind them and are looking forward to improving in the remaining games of the season.

Their first opportunity to do that comes on Saturday evening at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium against TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership.

Kick-off is at 19:00.

“The last two games didn’t go our way but we have to stay focused on the games coming up, and we are just looking forward to taking on TS Galaxy in our home game in Polokwane and hopefully we can go there and get three points,” Solomons said.

The Rockets currently lie fourth in the table, four places above Kaizer Chiefs, and Solomons is aware that the Glamour Boys face a challenging contest with them this weekend.

“They are a good team; we know what they possess in terms of the type of players they have and the kind of football they play, so we have a reasonable idea of what they are going to try to do,” he stated, before turning to his own team’s approach, ”We just need to nullify whatever attacking plans they have, and obviously try to score some goals ourselves.”

Frustration has been increasing among sections of the Amakhosi faithful over the team’s patchy form, with some growing anxious that they might miss out on the MTN8 for a second successive season.

Solomons is sympathetic to their views and reassures the fans that they are determined to finish the season strongly.

“Obviously we know where they are coming from; it’s a place of love and we know they want us to do well,” he says.

“But the way we see it, we aren’t that far away. If we win a few games we’ll be back up there, and that is our primary objective.

“We remain focused on the remaining games in the season, irrespective of our league position. For us, it’s all about building consistency,” he added.

“The (Nedbank) Cup is there to be won but we take each game as it comes so we can’t focus on the cup right now. We have to concentrate on TS Galaxy.”

On a personal note, Solomons feels confident he can contribute positively to the club’s cause now that he has fully recovered from injury.

“Initially, it was physically tough coming back from injury,” he revealed.

“But I am strong mentally and that is getting me through to full strength. My recent game-time has also helped me get up to pace, so hopefully that will continue.”

Tickets for the match are available online at Computicket or physically at Usave, Money Market counters of Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper at R60.
