Chiefs’ head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, has confirmed a significant blow for the team as they gear up to face Chippa United. Winger Tebogo Potsane, who recently returned from a prolonged injury, has suffered another setback, ruling him out of today’s match at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Potsane’s return initially brought a fresh spark to the Amakhosi squad. The 31-year-old played 45 minutes in each of the last two games, where the team struggled with back-to-back losses: 2-0 against Polokwane City and 1-0 to TS Galaxy. “Our pre-match preparation has gone well. We had a good week of training ahead of this game. We are ready and eager to give a good account of ourselves,” Nabi stated on the club’s website. However, the coach didn’t shy away from expressing his disappointment over Potsane’s unavailability.
“The only player unavailable from the last match against TS Galaxy is (Tebogo) Potsane, which is quite unfortunate because he is a player who just came back from long-term injury and was playing very well, building up momentum and confidence. So that is disappointing for him and for us,” he said.
Chippa United’s strengths put to the test
Nabi also shared insights into the team’s strategy against Chippa United, a team known for their physical and fast-paced style. “They are a team that started the league very well. They are physical, playing in transition with fast players, and always tough to beat. But we have analysed them and prepared accordingly,” he noted.
The coach remains optimistic, highlighting the importance of securing a positive result. “We want, and expect, a good performance in order to get the positive result that will bring us three points.”
