Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to make more changes to their squad in what will be Nasreddine Nabi’s second season.

Chiefs made 10 signings this season and that number could increase significantly in their next two windows.

When Nabi arrived at Chiefs, he made it no secret that he wanted an experienced and prolific striker. The number one target of the coach was reportedly Fiston Mayele, a striker he coach at Yanga SC. While Amakhosi could still go back in for the DRC international, they’re reportedly also after younger options.

Chiefs looking to sign young and experienced striker

It is believed that Chiefs would like to sign both an experienced and a younger striker with potential. According to KickOff.com the younger option comes from the lower leagues in the form of Kruger United striker Thapelo Matlhoko

“He is one of the strikers they (Chiefs) are looking at. They are believed to have enquired about him and they would like to have him as one of their players next season. The club is still looking at the possibility of signing different strikers to add to the team and Thapelo (Matlhoko) is one of them,” said a source to the same publication.

Matlhoko being 22 further reiterating Chiefs’ stance of signing both an experienced and younger striker.

Matlhoko an option for Amakhosi as a younger player?

“Yes, there are other experienced players that the club (Chiefs) is looking at in the striking department but they are also looking at the young strikers who can play and learn from the senior experienced strikers at the same time. That’s why they are targeting strikers like Fiston Mayele as well as Thapelo Matlhoko,” said the source.

Even for a younger option Matlhoko seems a surprising option for Chiefs. At 22-years-old, he has played 20 times for Kruger United this season and has only scored four goals.
