Kaizer Chiefs eye Sekhukhune United target as contract nears expiry but will he join for free?
Chiefs have a renewed opportunity to sign Stellenbosch FC’s midfield star, Sihle Nduli, ahead of next season.
Chiefs monitoring Nduli’s situation
A source confirmed that Chiefs are closely watching the situation and could make a move soon.
“What we know and believe is that Sihle’s Nduli contract is coming to an end in June and there is nothing yet from Stellenbosch FC concerning his contract. This would give Kaizer Chiefs the chance to sign him as a free agent. No, there is nothing yet at the moment from Chiefs in terms of making an official move, but this could prompt them to take action,” the source stated.
Despite the looming contract expiry, Stellenbosch FC remains keen on keeping Nduli. The club values him as an essential part of their squad, which means Chiefs will still have work to do if they want to land the talented midfielder.
“We don’t think it will be easy to let Sihle (Nduli) just leave like that. He is one of the players that the club really depends on, and it’s believed that they are working on renewing his contract. But you know in football, anything can happen. Let’s wait and see before the end of the season,” the source revealed.
Sekhukhune enters the race
Kaizer Chiefs may not be the only club pushing for Nduli’s signature. A separate source revealed that Sekhukhune United is actively working behind the scenes to lure the midfielder to their squad instead.
“Nduli will meet his agency soon. What I know is that he wants to sign for Kaizer Chiefs, but Sekhukhune wants him too and is working hard to convince him to trust their project instead,” the second source said.
Nduli’s consistency makes him a hot prospect
Nduli, a former TS Galaxy midfielder, joined Stellenbosch FC in 2022 on a three-year contract. The 29-year-old has been a key figure in the squad, regularly featuring in matches over the last three seasons. His experience and consistency have made him a highly sought-after player as his contract nears its conclusion.
With Chiefs and Sekhukhune both pushing to sign him, the battle for Nduli’s signature will be one to watch as the season draws to a close.
