Orlando Pirates were the first to notice the midfielder’s attacking prowess during Chippa United’s resurgence earlier in the season under the guidance of Kwanele Kopo. Despite Kopo’s abrupt departure in December, the 24-year-old Gqeberha-born player continued to shine, attracting interest from Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United. Now, Kaizer Chiefs have entered the race to secure his signature.
Impressive stats back Kwayiba’s appeal
In his 10 appearances in the Betway Premiership, Kwayiba has started nine matches, delivering two goals and an assist. His contributions have been pivotal for the Chilli Boys, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s emerging stars. According to insiders, Kwayiba’s growing profile has caught the attention of Chiefs, sparking talks of a potential deal.
“Chiefs have shown interest, and Kwayiba could be part of the deals involving the two clubs. With (Christian) Saile expected to move to Chippa from Chiefs, there could be a swap deal if all goes according to plan,” a source revealed.

There is also speculation about a goalkeeper swap between Chiefs and Chippa United. Discussions reportedly involve Chiefs’ Fiacre Ntwari and Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali. These potential transfers could reshape the squads of both teams as they aim to strengthen their respective campaigns.
Chivaviro’s struggles amid Chiefs’ defeat
While Kaizer Chiefs are active in the transfer market, their on-field struggles persist. A narrow 1-0 loss to Lamontville Golden Arrows on Sunday has once again highlighted the team’s offensive shortcomings. Striker Ranga Chivaviro faced criticism for missed opportunities that could have changed the game’s outcome.
With head coach Nasreddine Nabi serving a suspension after a red card, assistant coach Khalil Ben Youseff addressed the media. He provided insight into the efforts being made to help Chivaviro rediscover his form.
“We are working on the inside with Ranga,” Ben Youseff explained. “We’ve been holding individual finishing sessions for him, trying to address the issues and help him get out of this slump. As a striker, your life is to score, and we know that he is capable of doing it.”
