The cat is finally out of the bag! Kaizer Chiefs has announced the signing of Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United.
Morris joins in a swap deal that sees Christian Saile leave Chiefs to join SuperSport United on loan.
Chiefs announce Morris
Having scored the winner against Chiefs for SuperSport this season, Morris is no stranger to Amakhosi. They club welcomed the lanky target man through a statement that reads:
“Morris has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Chiefs until 30 June 2027. This move is part of a strategic swap deal, which will see striker Christian Saile head the other way.” Wrote the club.
Additionally, sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr expressed his delight at welcoming Morris to Chiefs.
“We would like to welcome Tashreeq (Morris) to the Amakhosi family and look forward to his contributions in the upcoming matches,” said Motaung Jr. “He is an experienced striker who came highly recommended by coach Nabi and his technical team after their assessment. We wish him SuperSport all the United best in the Gold & Black colours while here with us.” Said Motaung.
Set to bring experience to the team
Although bringing a wealth of experience to the team, Morris does not boast a prolific scoring record. He is yet to score five goals in top flight football with his best tally being six in the first division with Cape Town Spurs. However, it is believed Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi likes his high pressing energy and physical presence upfront. He will be hoping that with better players around him, he can fire for his new club.
Morris will be competing with the likes of Ranga Chivaviro and injured duo Wandile Duba and Ashley du Preez. Chiefs fans, how do you rate this signing? Do you think it will be a success? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
