Kaizer Chiefs’ shock 2-0 loss to Richards Bay FC was reportedly followed by a special meeting at Naturena.

KAIZER CHIEFS COACH AND MANAGEMENT MEET

According to Soccer Laduma, Nabi sat in a meeting with management to discuss ways to improve results. Amakhosi are currently placed in eighth position with only eight wins from 22 league games under coach Nabi.”It was a meeting about looking at how they can improve things,” an insider told the outlet. “Everyone at the club knows and believes that the team is on the right track and can do better than the way things are. So, in this meeting, it was not the normal post-game technical team meeting. It was with the management who looked at the way forward on how to improve things with the remaining games in the league and the Nedbank Cup. It was like a brainstorming session, so to say,” the insider added.

An additional source concluded: “They had the meeting to figure out how they can avoid what happened last season where they finished l0th in the league and finished the season without a trophy. They talked about how they could finish in the top eight with eight games to go in the league, as well as fight for the Nedbank Cup. It was a constructive meeting where all parties agreed that the team is not in a good space and things need to change for the better.”

NASREDDINE NABI SENDS A MESSAGE TO KAIZER CHIEFS FANS

Following Sunday’s result, Nabi asked supporters to show more patience: “We are in the process of rebuilding a team and a big club such as Kaizer Chiefs is not built in six or seven months, you need more time than that,” Nabi said via Sowetan. “We know exactly what we need to have a better team or club. And it is not today because we are losing and tomorrow when we are winning and say the opposite. I have to emphasise that we are in the building process and we know exactly what we need.

“I think we play games every three days and there is not much you can work on when you play every three days. We have been struggling in that area and we hope that with the international break, we can work on certain things,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor added. “After they scored early in the second half, the team became nervous as they tried to come back and when you do that, you leave a lot of spaces behind, which they took advantage of to score the second goal.

“Against a low block like how they were playing, a lot of people inside and around the box, we tried to do combinations and make crosses.

“But we were lacking a little bit of a big striker that can fight for the ball and we have to give credit to Richards Bay; they fought for the three points,” the Tunisian concluded.
