Johannesburg Water’s 96-hour shutdown to affect 40 suburbs

Johannesburg Water has confirmed an emergency 96-hour water shutdown which will affect several suburbs from Friday, 9 May.

The unplanned maintenance is scheduled from 18:00 on Friday, 9 May, until 18:00 on Tuesday, 13 May.

JOHANNESBURG WATER TO CONDUCT 96-HOUR EMERGENCY WATER SHUTDOWN

Johannesburg Water said its teams will be repairing leaks on the pipeline, and it is unclear whether water tankers will be provided.

All the streets in the following suburbs will be affected by the emergency water shutdown:

Strathavon Morningside Hills
Rivonia Hurlpark
Morningside Dennehof
Parkmore Duxberry
Kramerville Hurlingham
Hyde Park Bordeaux

Dunkeld West Benmore Gardens
Inanda Dalecross
Wierda Valley Wynberg
Chislehurston Simba
Willowwild Craighall
Atholl Hurst Sunset Acres
Atholl Littlefillan

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED MAINTENANCE COMPLETED

Meanwhile, the planned maintenance work that was scheduled for this week in parts of Johannesburg has been completed.

All the streets in all Orange Farm extensions experienced low pressure to no water for 10 hours on Wednesday, 7 May, due to planned maintenance that was scheduled from 6:00 – 16:00.

Likewise, on Thursday, 8 May, Johannesburg Water also conducted another water shutdown on Thursday, 8 May at Amarosa ext 55, and all the streets were affected during this period.

Customers had no water for at least eight hours as Johannesburg Water teams were tying in a new pipe to the existing infrastructure.
