After years of Mamelodi Sundowns domination, Orlando Pirates have got their act together.

Ka bo Yellow, on course to win their eighth successive PSL, have been a man against boys in recent years, clearing second-placed Buccaneers by twenty-three points last season.

Orlando Pirates began the 2024/25 campaign in scintillating fashion, winning their opening seven games for the first time in its history – Jose Riveiro has the Soweto giants firing on all cylinders as they hunt for their first league title since 2012.

Pirates chasing top talent

  • The Sea Robbers have reportedly offered Stellenbosch Goodman Mosele (plus cash) for star attacker Jayden Adams, who could leave in the summer transfer window.
  • According to reports, Orlando Pirates are leading the race for the services of Polokwane winger Oswin Appollis. The 23-year-old nearly joined Kaizer Chiefs before the season began but looks likely to pledge his allegiance to their noisy neighbours.
  • Pirates midfielder Karim Kimvuidi, who has only featured 29 times since joining in 2023, is attracting interest from several major African clubs like Al-Hilal, Simba and Pyramids FC.

More on the Appollis saga

Appollis was keen on a move to Soweto before this season began but was blocked from doing so due to an absent chairman being unable to sign off on the deal. They will find it much harder to keep him this January.

“Like I told you (last month), Pirates have had an advantage (over Chiefs) on Appollis because of the good relationship between the two clubs,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.

“It’s those kinds of deals between chairman and chairman and you can expect the move to happen in the coming weeks.”
