Jannik Sinner sweats on an elbow injury
The Italian Sinner is through to the quarter-finals, but not in a way he could have wanted. Sinner was two sets down to talented Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov with the score locked at 2-2 in the third, when Dimitrov had to retire with an injury. Sinner had an injury scare of his own early in the contest, knocking his elbow on the turf after a fall. The 23-year-old World Number 1 is getting an MRI to ascertain the damage; if he’s fit to play, he’ll face Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. Sinner’s compatriot Flavio Cobolli got the better of Croatian veteran Marin Cilic to book his place in the final eight.
