Kaizer Chiefs left-back Edmilson Dove maintains that defenders cannot be blamed entirely when the team concedes goals.
Amakhosi have let in more than 30 goals across all competitions this season. In the league alone, Chiefs have the third-worst defensive record, shipping in 28 goals. The Soweto giants however, have only conceded one goal in the Nedbank Cup so far, which proves that on their day, they can be a solid team especially at the back.
The Kaizer Chiefs left-back said the defensive challenges this season were not necessarily solely on the defensive department.
“Defending doesn’t start at the back,” said Dove, as per iDiski Times.
“You know it’s a whole unit problem and as I said there’s things that you know we need to fix, starting from the front to the back.

“Yeah, because when we concede goals not only defenders concede goals but the whole team. So I think it’s something that we need to fix as a unit not as a department.
“I think we take one game at a time and yes we have conceded silly goals sometimes, but we choose not to focus a lot on what we can’t control no more. I mean, all the games are gone.
“I feel like the most important thing is us focusing from now going forward, you know, minimize our mistakes and making sure that whenever we get a chance to score we score,” said the Kaizer Chiefs left-back
Amakhosi are in action this weekend against TS Galaxy.
