A woman was removed from a funeral service for not wearing a doek, as she did not follow the proper protocol.
In the black culture, during traditional ceremonies, women are required to wear long skirts and cover their hair whereas men should wear long pants and a blazer as a form of respect.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) a user @_sdvh took to the platform to share photos of how she travelled to Limpopo for a funeral and ended up kicked out as she was not wearing a doek.
Despite not observing protocol, she goes on to say that she didn’t understand why this happened as her attire was very respectful, adding that, most people at the funeral were guilty of far less.
She later explained that although she went to the funeral she was prohibited from entering the cemetery where the deceased would be laid to rest.
This rant led many X users to add that when one travels to a funeral outside of their province they should always have extra items packed in their car as different households tend to adapt to their way of doing things.

One user added that it was disrespectful for that family to kick the lady out without saying anything beforehand.
Whatever their reason was, it’s petty and disrespectful. You took time out of your life to attend. You paid for fuel.

In the Limpopo rurals covering your head and the rest of the body is a requirement for entering the cemetery for women . For men you need a jacket and long trousers. Without those , you won’t enter.
