Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah has expressed his disappointment following his lengthy injury.
The 26-year-old suffered a tibia fracture during his team’s 3-0 win over Polokwane City in September. The Nigerian international is expected to miss action until next year. His absence has not been felt this season with Thabiso Sesane and Nkosinathi Sibisi keeping things simple at the back.
Speaking for the first time since the injury, the Orlando Pirates star said he was disappointed to miss the club’s matches so early in the season.
“I was down, basically. I wouldn’t say I was depressed,” the defender said as per SNL24.
“I also spoke to the national team and spoke to coach (Augustine Eguavoen), and he was surprised.
“He told me to get well soon, and yes, this all happened in a short space, where I felt everything was going well for me.
“I’m just looking forward to recovery and playing well.”
Orlando Pirates defender Ndah still recovering from injury
The Buccaneers‘ coach Jose Riveiro hopes to have Ndah back to action with CAF Champions League matches coming.
“Again, the fact that Olisa is not going to be around for a long time is something that we cannot change, so people who are taking care of him and our other injured players are all working to make it possible that they are back as soon as possible,” said Riveiro.
Another Orlando Pirates defender who is out due to injury is Tapelo Xoki. It remains to be seen when the two defenders will return to action.
