Although veteran producer DJ Sbu, has worked hard to become one of the more notable personalities and entrepreneurs in the country, the popular DJ has made a habit of trending for the wrong reasons.

Born Sbusiso Leope, DJ Sbu established himself as one of the best to ever do it in mzansi, and has gone on to build one of the most successful businesses through his ‘Mofaya’ energy drink. However, due to his highly opinionated nature, the Remember when it Rained hitmaker usually finds himself in trouble with his supporters and critics for constantly being on the wrong side of the argument.

Instances such as when he spoke out in support of current Miss Africa and Oceania Chidimma Adetshina when South Africans raised concerns about her identity have left a sour taste in mzansi’s mouth as far as the now infamous DJ is concerned.

This time, a now viral clip of DJ Sbu’s interaction with a street vendor has furthered the agenda of his villainous nature as he can be seen taunting the vendor with an R200 note after he finds out that the vendor does not have his ‘Mofaya’ in stock to sell.

This clip has generated a negative reaction towards DJ Sbu as internet users call him out on his behaviour, citing that his actions have proven that he looks down on other entrepreneurs that he feels are not on his level. Users demanded an apology from the radio DJ, labelling his behaviour as inexcusable.

Upon introspection and a stern talking to from the public, the DJ took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the matter, beginning by offering an apology, highlighting that he had no ill intentions towards the unidentified vendor.

“We are empowering my brother as we speak. More to come soon,” his post reads.

Furthermore, Sbu revealed that he had gone back to the vendor to extend an olive branch and work hand in hand with him. According to Sbu, he and the vendor are on good terms, and he now has the ‘Mofaya’ in stock and will be selling it.

Although this act did not fix everything, many users commend DJ Sbu for his willingness to accept when he is wrong and correct his behaviour.
