A waitress claims she was fired from GLO restaurant on 2nd Avenue in Bloemfontein for asking for her tips.

BLOEMFONTEIN WAITRESS: ‘SIX MONTHS WITHOUT A SALARY’

The Bloemfontein waitress @reekymakae8 reveals on TikTok that she worked at GLO restaurant for six months without a salary.

“This club opened in May this year [2024]. When the club opened, they told us, you guys are not getting a salary until September. We stayed because September is around the corner.”

She adds that when September came, they told them to wait until October because the club is not doing well.

“I couldn’t go to work because I didn’t have money [tips]. He called the meeting and said we are disrespecting him by asking for our money. With that being said, everyone is fired. We had to sit with them for six months without a contract and without a salary.”

She also claims the club was consistent with paying them their tips until August. When Babel restaurant started trending, management told them that they [GLO management] contacted the labour department who informed them that they are allowed to draw contracts that stipulates that they can’t pay them salaries until next year [2025].

“That’s how they tried to keep us quiet.”
