South African manager Rulani Mokwena has expressed his frustration over events surrounding Wydad Casablanca’s recent match against Ittihad Tanger.
Rocky start
The match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, resulted in a scuffle and verbal exchanges between Wydad Casablanca and Ittihad Tanger players following the final whistle.
In his press conference post-match, Mokwena said: “We have been insulted by some of Ittihad Tanger players.
“I do not think I deserve that nor did I come to Morocco for this to happen.
“In football, tensions are part of the game, but opponents should always shake hands afterward.
“There’s an issue when we lack respect, and I thank my coaching staff for standing up for me.”
This draw continued Wydad Casablanca’s rocky start to the season, leaving them in sixth place in the 16-team league with 15 points from 10 games, eight points behind leaders RS Berkane.
Did Rulani Mokwena make the worst possible decision leaving Mamelodi Sundowns?
