Hungry Lions FC frustrated Milford FC with a 2-1 defeat in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Suzuki Stadium on Saturday afternoon, while Cape Town Spurs extended their winless run to seven games.

The KZN-based outfit – Milford, maintained their position at the summit of the log standings despite losing against Hungry Lions. Milford have collected 23 points in 11 games in the league. In the current campaign in the NFD, Milford won seven matches, drew two and suffered defeat on two occasions.

Elsewhere, Cape Town Spurs took their winless run in the Championship to seven games after playing out to a 1-1 draw against Baroka FC at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

The Urban Warriors last tasted a victory on the 23rd of September 2024 when they beat Hungry Lions with a 2-1 scoreline.

Spurs are currently occupying 14th spot on the league table with 10 points after 11 outings. Since the start of the season, the Cape Town-based side won two games, drew four and lost five times.

Meanwhile, JDR Stars claimed a 2-1 win over Venda FC at Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Saturday to collect all three points.

Stars found the back of the net in each half from Banele Hlophe and last season’s top goal scorer, Prince Nxumalo.

On Sunday, Durban City FC shared the spoils with Orbit College after playing to a 1-1 draw at Olympia Park Stadium.
