The festive season, ‘friendsmas’ gatherings, and ‘family time’ have come and gone so there is no need for annoying WhatsApp groups. These chats, “Christmas Vibes”, “Friendsmas Fun” or “Festive Fight Club” usually descend into pointless spam, outdated memes or cheesy Dad jokes.
Group chats have their place, but sometimes they become tedious, disturbing, and clog your chats. Don’t be afraid to cull your Whatsapp groups in 2025.
Thankfully, you can leave a WhatsApp group without fellow members of the chat knowing immediately that you’ve left; you can do it silently, and only the group admin is notified.
LEAVE A WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT WITH NO DRAMA
Most group chat members are no longer notified when you leave the group, so here’s what to do:
1. In WhatsApp, tap the Chats tab at the bottom of the page.
2. In the Chats list, tap the group you want to leave.
3. On the conversation page, tap the group name at the top of the screen.
4. On the info page, scroll down and tap Exit Group.
Group members can see that you have left if they inspect the list of participants on the group’s details page.
STOP SPAMMY WHATSAPP GROUP INVITES IN PRIVACY SETTINGS
If you really are anti-WhatsApp groups, there is a way to adjust your WhatsApp settings and keep yourself from being bombarded with spam messages.
- Open WhatsApp and tap Settings.
- Tap on Privacy on the Settings screen.
- Select Groups. You’ll see multiple options for Who Can Add Me to Groups?
- By default, it’s set to Everyone. Change it to Nobody. If you don’t have the Nobody option and you definitely don’t want invites, choose My Contacts Except and then Select All.
WHATSAPP TO STOP WORKING ON THESE IPHONES BY MAY
WhatsApp will stop supporting several iPhones on 5 May, requiring users to update their software or upgrade devices.
iPhone users with older models face an urgent decision as WhatsApp announced it will stop supporting devices running iOS 15.1 or earlier starting 5 May, as reported by IOL.
This means that iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus users must update their operating systems or upgrade their devices to avoid losing access to the messaging app.
