Working from home sounds like a dream—no commute, pyjamas all day, and your favourite coffee just a step away.

However, with all the comforts of home come endless distractions: laundry, the TV, the cosy couch, and even the desire for that “quick” nap.

So, how do you stay productive in the middle of it all? Whether you’re a seasoned remote worker or new to WFH life, a few simple strategies can transform your day from chaotic to productive.

To be most productive, the Crossover publication suggests that you create a dedicated workspace, whether it’s a room in your home or a co-working space. This space should be where your brain can identify when it’s time to work.

You are then advised to set clear expectations with your family and coworkers, including your team and boss. “Take time to set boundaries with your family, roommate or partner to understand and agree on where you’ll be working, how to know if you can’t be interrupted, and what your work hours are.”

The Travellers publication suggests that to stay productive set the alarm for an hour before your spouse or kids wake up and focus on emails or heavier assignments. You are also advised to take regular breaks to recharge your mind and body, taking a few minutes to stand, refill water, or pet your dog.

It is recommended that you eliminate digital distractions by removing social platforms from bookmarks, logging out of accounts, disabling alerts and notifications, and saving social media apps for the evening once you’ve logged out of work for the day.
