Anele Mdoda defends Sizwe Dhlomo following her Lobola ceremony

Anele Mdoda isn’t letting the online fashion police come for her best friend Sizwe Dhlomo without a fight.

The celebrated media personality stepped in to defend Dhlomo after he came under fire on social media for his outfit choice at her recent lobola ceremony.

Images from the event sparked chatter online, with many critics saying Sizwe’s look, which included gumboots and a winter coat, didn’t match the significance of the occasion.

Some even claimed that Anele’s special day “deserved better.”

But the outspoken TV and radio host wasn’t having any of it.

Speaking on her breakfast show Anele & The Club on 947, she addressed the backlash head-on and gave context to her friend’s much-talked-about attire.

“Why did Sizwe offend so many people with his outfit?” she asked before offering her explanation.

Anele made it clear that while the coat may have overshadowed the rest of his outfit, Sizwe was in fact dressed appropriately underneath.

“Sizwe was wearing a traditional shirt. Maybe because of the coat on top. Sizwe is a grandmother’s child, he doesn’t like the cold,” she explained with a laugh.

She further added that his decision to bundle up made perfect sense given his lifestyle: “Sizwe was wearing the coat from the word go. And also, Sizwe doesn’t drink. You guys get warm from your wine. His temperature stays the same until he goes to bed.”
