Festive Lights Switch-On musical lineup
The City of Cape Town’s Festive Lights Switch-On will kick of ‘Ke Dezemba’ in style on Sunday, 1 December 2024, and the City has said that this year’s event is going to be an unforgettable day of music, laughter, and unity under the theme “People of Hope.”
“Cape Town is a city of bright lights and even brighter people. The Festive Lights Switch-On is our chance to come together, acknowledge the year behind us and celebrate what is to come.” Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis said.
“This year’s line-up will certainly get me into the holiday spirit, as it speaks to the joy, unity, and vibrancy that make Cape Town the heart of the holiday season in South Africa.” Hill-Lewis added.
Who’ll be performing?
According to the City, the star-studded line-up will include:
- Mafikizolo,
- Fagrie Isaacs,
- Candice Thornton,
- Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels,
- Mörda,
- 3 Tons of Fun,
- Wynand and Cheree Strydom,
- Blackbyrd,
- Old Gentleman Dancers,
- DJ Caycee,
- Carletheia,
- Ouma Sarie, and
- Meneer Cee.
This year’s festivities will also be led by Alan Committie and Lunga Tshuka, two of South Africa’s beloved comedic talents, who will guide the evening with their signature humour and charm.
“I remember attending this concert as a little boy, and it’s one of my fondest childhood memories. Above all, this is a wonderful family event for the whole of Cape Town. It’s more than just a celebration of the festive season; it is a celebration of Cape Town’s people – the People of Hope.” Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis also said.
“I am always so pleased to see families from every corner of the city coming together to share in the fun and joy of this event. It’s these moments of togetherness that make Cape Town the remarkable city it is – a city of hope, resilience, and opportunity,” he added.
