If you are someone who goes into a party mode after hearing “beer” then you are going to love what we have to tell you.

Beer is always associated with loud music, drunk teenagers, bars or sports matches. But have you ever thought that beer might be healthy for your skin and hair?

There has been much conjecture about beer being healthy or not. Some say it will make you gain weight while others are promoting its health benefits.

As much as it might seem like a marketing scheme, it’s not. Anything in excessive amounts is going to cause you harm but in moderation you can enjoy beer along with its health benefits.

Why is beer good for hair?

Beer is rich in vitamin B, which is why it helps to keep your hair strong and shiny. While the protein found in malt and hops (the active ingredients in beer) can repair your damaged hair, the sucrose and maltose sugars work on the hair cuticles to strengthen them and make them shiny. Beer also has calcium (promotes hair growth), iron (prevents hair loss), protein (strengthens your hair), selenium (gets rid of dandruff) and vitamin E (good for all things related to beauty). So, if your hair is lacking shine, all you need is a bottle of beer to restore the volume and shine.

Many reports claim drinking beer is said to be good for hair, but in recent times it has become a home remedy to directly apply beer on hair. But let us tell you there is not much scientific proof that external application or ingestion of beer works for hair growth or hair health, but it may be worth a try.

Here is how to use beer for hair to get voluminous and shiny hair naturally at home:

Step 1

Take a glass full of beer and let it sit out, uncovered, until it becomes decarbonated or becomes “flat”. It is important to use flat beer otherwise carbon-dioxide combined with water will make it hard-water and hamper the cleaning process.

Step 2

Shampoo your hair like you usually do with the shampoo of your choice, but skip the conditioner. Instead of your conditioner use beer.

Step 3

Pour the beer onto your scalp and hair, and massage it gently with your fingers.

Step 4

Leave the beer in your hair for around 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. It is okay if the beer doesn’t get washed out completely.

Step 5

Wash your hair with beer only once a week and not more than that. You can also make hair masks by adding essential oils, apple cider vinegar, eggs, etc. to your flat beer.

So, next time you order a 6-pack beer, keep one bottle aside to take care of your hair!
