This year has seen the arrival of many Springbok babies – some a first for their parents and others joining their existing siblings. Here’s a look at Springbok babies that players and their spouses welcomed in 2024.

A first for some Springboks

Eben and Anlia Etzebeth welcomed a girl

Eben Etzebeth and his wife, actress Anlia, welcomed their first child, a girl, early this year in January, after they got married in February 2023.

Vibrant boy for Salmaan Moerat

Salmaan Moerat joined fellow first-time fathers when he and his wife Haanim welcomed a baby boy in October. The couple stated that their son’s name, Yahya, means ‘one who is truly alive, vibrant, living’.

De Klerks welcomed a baby girl

In February, Faf and Mine de Klerk welcomed their baby girl, Remi-Re de Klerk. This is also their first child together.

Baby boy for Handre and Marise Pollard

Another first was Handre and Marise Pollard’s baby boy who was born in April.

The couple got married in 2017 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Marise announced that they were expecting a baby in November 2023, shortly after the Springboks became double Rugby World Cup champions.

‘I love being a mom,’ Anastacia Mbonambi

Springbok Bongi Mbonambi and his wife, Anastacia (Stacey), welcomed their second child into the world in August. The couple’s other child was born in May 2019. Stacey said on social media: ‘I love being a mom. Being a mom is so many things at once, I can’t describe it in one word, but it’s the best thing ever, also the hardest thing ever.’

Third baby for Pieter-Steph du Toit

Pieter-Steph du Toit and his wife Willemien welcomed their third child in September. The girl, Lienke, was born in Paarl as a sister to their other two children – Christi and Pieter Stephanus. The couple tied the knot nine years ago in 2015.

Malcolm Marx and his wife Kirsten welcomed second child

Malcolm Marx and his wife Kirsten welcomed their second child together in June. They have been together for 13 years and first met when the two attended high school together.

Andre Esterhuizen welcomed third child

Andre and Mabea Esterhuizen welcomed their third child in July. The couple got married in 2017.
