Namibia coach Collin Benjamin has praised Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto for his work rate.
The Warriors are currently second in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, having secured a win over Malawi and earned a draw with Equatorial Guinea. With four matches to play, Benjamin’s team can still qualify if they win all their remaining games and Tunisia slip up.
Hotto has been one of the best players for Orlando Pirates this season. It’s no surprise that he has continued to show form even at the international level.
“With Deon [Hotto], do you know that I don’t coach Deon? I can’t tell Deon how to shoot or how to cross,” Benjamin said on the utility player.
“We give Deon a structure within a team, the positions that we need to get in, and the intelligence and experience that he brings, and he finds his players. He breaks lines. You play Deon at left-back and wing-back, and as a right midfielder, he can play in between the 10. He never complains.”
Hotto has been exceptional for both Orlando Pirates and Namibia
“The attitude of these guys and the patriotism that they show towards their country is second to none. We, as Namibia are just happy to have them. They are an inspiration not only to their families. They are an inspiration to young kids that are coming through. We wish him all the best and hope he stays healthy, scores goals, and does his best,” he said as per FARPost.
Hoto has scored three times in the league for Orlando Pirates this season in 18 matches.
