Owner of former Premiership champions Santos FC, Goolam Allie, has singled out one name from the PSL EXCO nominees’ new faces that he believes could make a difference if elected.

The PSL released a list of nominees for the upcoming executive committee elections scheduled for 13 November 2024.

Current chairman Irvin Khoza is set to retain his position after he emerged as the sole nominee. However, there are four new faces on the list vying for the other seven exco positions. This includes TS Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi, AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu, Richards Bay FC chairman Sifiso Biyela and Polokwane City FC boss Johhny Mogaladi.

Allie believes Galaxy boss Sukazi is the perfect name to be part of the new PSL EXCO based on his experience in SA football.

TS GALAXY BOSS TIM SUKAZI TIPPED AS A GOOD CONTENDER FROM THE PSL EXCO NOMINEES LIST

“I must be unfair and say I don’t know the others well, but I would definitely go Tim Sukazi’s way,” he told FARPost

“From my personal knowledge, he is somebody I think would definitely add value because I know him well. Tim Sukazi is a very strong and diligent young man. I have known him for a long time. I think it’s probably a good indication to have people like that pushing their way. They have been in football or associated with football for a long time and want to do things for the betterment of the community.

“We must not forget that football is there to build communities. To build nations and links between all people in the world. You need people who are driven by those models and ethics to take this game to the next level. To do things that have been started by people like Dr Khoza, Jomo [Sono] and Dr Kaizer [Motaung]. People like Patrice [Motsepe] and so on.”

IRVIN KHOZA RE-ELECTION COMES AS NO SURPRISE TO SANTOS FC BOSS GOOLAM ALLIE

Allie says he is not surprised that PSL chairman Khoza has been nominated unopposed based on the good job he has done over the years.

“It’s probably a good decision [for Khoza to stand again],” explains Allie. “So that during this period now, it doesn’t stop him from surely putting into place the so-called succession plan. He has done a lot, single-handedly, many times with the support of the members. I think it’s probably a precautionary measure, but it’s not a backward step.”
