‘Get rid of that clown Sirino’

Kaizer Chiefs fans have vented their frustrations over the antics of new signing Gaston Sirino. What’s happening next?

Sirino is in hot water

33-year-old serial winner Gaston Sirino started life well with Chiefs, calling the tune their creative heartbeat. However, alleged disciplinary breaches have put his place in the side in jeopardy.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs are looking to get rid of Gaston Sirino after just a couple of months at the club. His potential replacement is Tanzanian star playmaker Feisal Salum from Azam FC.

“You see with the Sirino story it is a bit tricky. Management is supporting him. And actually, that’s where the problem is. The coach didn’t recommend his signing. He was signed by management with recommendations from scouts and agents. At the moment he is one of the team’s best players and he has to play. But if the coach had another player who plays in that position then he would be using that player and not Sirino. As for the indiscipline – he is not (a troublemaker). He is a senior player and he leads by example and management likes and supports him,” said the source.

The Sirino situation isn’t a good look

Whatever the real truth is, Gaston Sirino’s alleged reluctance to train doesn’t point to a great deal of respect for his new manager. Whether that’s down to the player’s petulance and lack of professionalism or the manager’s lack of authority is up for debate. However you look at it, this isn’t a problem the club needs right now.

Kaizer Chiefs hope Durbs has something nice for them

Nasreddine Nabi will hope that a change of scenery brings about a change of fortunes. His side lost 2-0 to Polokwane last time out, leaving them 10 points adrift of the title pace already after only eight games. They’re only six points ahead of rock-bottom Richards Bay. The Glamour Boys face Chippa United on 29 December, Golden Arrows on 12 January and Sekhukhune on 19 January, all at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Before that, they travel to TS Galaxy on Monday 16 December.

Chiefs have only played two home games in Gauteng this term. The other two were at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, a 2-1 win over Richards Bay and a disappointing 2-2 stalemate with Royal AM.

Predicted Chiefs XI vs TS Galaxy

Petersen; Solomons, Miguel, Dortley, Cross; Blom, Mthethwa; Duba, Shabalala, Vilakazi; Chivaviro.

With Reeve Frosler still out injured, Nabi will be relieved to have Dillan Solomons back after he sat out suspended against Polokwane. We could also see the likes of Sirino and Ashley Du Preez come out of the side. Mduduzi Shabalala is one of the shining lights of their campaign so far with three goals and an assist in the league.
