Sports, Arts, and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has expressed his desire to return the Bloemfontein Celtic’s to the PSL.

Siwelele, crippling in financial debt, were bought by Shauwn Mkhize in 2021, who relocated the Free State side to Durban under the new name, Royal AM.

Ironically, the Celtic’s could soon replace their successors amid financial turmoil that has left them unable to pay players and staff, leading to a lengthy ban that has excluded them from the league since late December last year.

Now the PSL are calling for their termination, which could open the door for a Bloemfontein Celtic reunion.

McKenzie promises return

Boosting Siwelele’s chances of a return is McKenzie, who is said to pushing for their reinstatement.

“I had such an emotional encounter with Botha, the number one Siwelele supporter, I gave him my absolute word that Siwelele is coming back,” said the Minister

“I told him that I can vouch with my life for the people who are bringing Bloemfontein Celtic’s back to the Free State. Many tried and failed but this Group will not fail. Exciting times ahead,” McKenzie reaffirmed.

The Bishop Stand is one of the marvel’s of the Betway Premiership – the sea of green and white, ignited by chants, is hard to ignore. They last featured in the 2020/21 season, finishing eleventh on the log.
