Gauteng model, actor earns 11 DISTINCTIONS in matric finals

Top achiever Jan-Rudolf Britz has lead the charge at Hoërskool Randburg with an impressive 11 distinctions.

The Johannesburg High School also celebrated a stellar 100% matric pass rate.

Results were released this week for South African schools’ senior certificate examinations. Nationally, the matric class of 2024 achieved an overall 87.3% pass rate, bettering the 82.9% pass rate recorded in 2023.

How he did it

Despite a near-sleepless night filled with anticipation, Britz was overjoyed when the results were finally released.

“I feel so happy and relieved,” Britz told the Randburg Sun.

“There are a lot of distinctions I got that I thought I would miss, but with hard work I got them.”

The Gauteng scholar achieved his 11 distinctions (a grade of 80% and over) for the following subjects:

Afrikaans Huistaal
English Home language
Maths
Life Orientation
Accounting
Drama
Information Technology
Economics
Business studies
AdMaths
ApMaths

Expressing gratitude for the support he received, Britz credited his teachers for their dedication.

“All the teachers were really passionate, and that helped me make time to study the work.”

Onwards and upwards

Britz now has his sights set on studying law at the University of Stellenbosch, and will be moving into the Dagbreek Mens Residences in less than 2 weeks.

“I am so thankful for Hoerskool Randburg and all of my amazing friends for this past chapter of my life,” the multi-talented youngster announced on his Instagram account—where he also describes himself as a Dancer/Singer/Actor/Model/Athlete/Swimmer.

“I’ve been offered an Allan Gray Fellowship Bursary to study BCom Law at Stellenbosch University.”

“I am excited to see where this next chapter of my life leads me. I can’t wait for all of the many memories yet to be made with all of my friends along for the ride.”

“Once again, thank you for all of your support.”
