From 14 March 2025, FlySafair will offer scheduled flights between Joburg’s Lanseria Airport and George – on the Garden Route.

This service will operate daily between Johannesburg’s Lanseria International Airport and George Airport.

Sustainability in the Sky reports that these flights will be operated with a Boeing 737 aircraft.

FLYSAFAIR LANSERIA GEORGE FLIGHTS

The punctual low-cost airline’s flights will offer a solution for the growing number of passengers flying between George and Johannesburg.

George certainly seems to have an increasing demand for more scheduled services to Johannesburg, especially Lanseria Airport.

Lanseria’s proximity to Johannesburg’s northern suburbs and Sandton’s central business district make this airport a convenient one for passengers flying in from George for work purposes or to visit family and friends.

FlySafair also operates flights to and from Cape Town and Durban from the privately owned Lanseria International Airport.

LANSERIA AIRPORT

Flying to or from the privately owned Lanseria International Airport is a pleasure.

Speed and efficiency come standard at Lanseria.

The airport’s size means that there is less walking, less waiting, and generally, less inconvenience.

Passengers walk between the airport building and the aircraft as planes are parked right in front of the terminal, not miles away.

Baggage is usually also delivered speedily after flight arrivals.

From a passenger’s point of view, Lanseria ticks many boxes.

The airport, which handles approximately 2.3 million passengers annually celebrated its 50th year of operations in 2024.

Lanseria International Airport is transforming into a smart digital space with the launch of its new tap-and-fly system.

This helps Lanseria to improve airport experiences for passengers as well as to facilitate operational excellence.

SEMIGRATION IN SOUTH AFRICA

Semigration trends have led to growing numbers of people leaving Johannesburg for locations such as George and the Garden Route.

During the pandemic, more South Africans opted to get out of cities and move to locations in the Western Cape, which offered a better lifestyle.

Remote work opportunities have also made living outside of South Africa’s large urban centres more desirable.

The Western Cape and the Garden Route became particularly attractive to many people seeking a less fast-paced way of life.
