Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi will be boosted with five players returning from injury ahead of Wednesday’s match against Cape Town City.
Amakhosi fans could welcome back South American midfielder Edson Castillo for the first time in more than four months. Another player set for a return is in-form winger Wandile Duba. The 20-year-old has already netted four league goals this season for the Soweto giants.
Kaizer Chiefs face Cape Town City this week at the FNB Stadium looking to improve their log standings. Coach Nasreddine Nabi said at least five players could return to action midweek. Samkelo Zwane, Happy Mashiane, Rushwin Dortley, Tashreeq Morris, Makabi Lilepo and Sibongiseni Mthethwa all suffered injuries in the past few weeks.
“Castillo is back with the team but probably not 100 percent fit because he has been away for a couple of months,” said the Amakhosi coach.
“Duba had his first training with the squad last week. Zwane is 100 percent out, completely out for the [CT City] game. Morris is probably going to take him three more weeks to come back, so he is out for this game, too.
Duba and Castillo to boast Kaizer Chiefs
“We still have Happy out as well for this game. We will be assessing Dortley in the next two days to see where he is at. Lilepo has been having some discomfort, and he will look at him today. OX [Mthethwa], probably we feel that he can play some minutes but not a full match,” Nabi added.
Kaizer Chiefs appear to have peaked at the right time this season, having reached the semis of the Nedbank Cup.
