Musician Buhlebendalo Mda is getting ready to release her solo debut album and has already given fans a taste of what to expect with the release of a new single from the album.

The single Ntab’ezimnyama will feature on the highly anticipated solo album called Chosi.

Buhle last year announced that she would be pursuing a solo career after being part of The Soil for 15 years. The solo career move, however, does not mean this is the end of Buhle’s journey with the successful acapella group.

We recently caught up with the Buhle to find out how her solo career journey is going and the making of that debut album

Buhle says so far in her journey as a solo artist she has learned that “an artist’s evolution depends on self”. The singer explains, “I’m work in progress and I need to make sure I always reinvent myself and never stop exploring, not just with music, but with ART.”

Her single Ntab’ezimnyama is already a favourite amongst fans since it’s release this April. The singer says the song was inspired “by a day in the life of a woman in South Africa, Africa, and the World,” she also says that this goes for most of the songs on the album.

Buhle’s album Chosi will be her first offering outside of The Soil and she admits the creative process of making the album “was long”.

“Challenging to the spirit, and most parts fun. I never thought I had it in me. It’s a beautiful discovery of self,” says the singer.

Buhle says her fans will get to hear “forgotten rhythms of the one that came before us”. This means fans can definitely expect to be taken on a journey when they hear the album.
