It’s been over twenty years since Kermit Erasmus was spotted playing in the PSL where he’s performed for the likes of Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
Two decades later and the former Buccaneer is set to join Gqeberha’s Chippa United, says head coach Thabo September:
“We are planning on signing him. He’s the only player we plan to sign because we have a good group and there are players who have not yet played.
“We do not want to load the squad too much. So maybe for this window that might be our only signing because we have a good team.
“Everyone knows Kermit. His history speaks for itself, and with the experience and having played abroad. He’s at home now and he always makes sure he does better. We, myself and Thabo, played with him when he was still young at SuperSport United.
“We understand each other, and the connection was here all the time. We know his strengths and weaknesses and he’ll bring great value to the club,” he said.
Jose Riveiro shocked after Cape Town City loss
“It’s actually quite difficult to explain the final result, I think the difference between both teams was too big this time,” said Orlando Pirates manager Jose Riveiro.
“With all respect for the game of Cape Town City, it’s difficult to explain that we lost this game the way we did it. But this is football, they managed to put one ball in the net, we didn’t but a very complete performance, we did everything to win the match, not much that you can do. So, to the next one.
“It’s just pure bad luck in this case, did you see the way they scored? It’s something not normal,” Riveiro responded when asked about the missed penalty and City’s goal.
“Again, like I said, we were Pirates tonight, we played the football that we played before. There were other games that we didn’t play at the level we played tonight where we got the result, but today we didn’t make it.
“Now we have to put our name onto the next one, this one is gone.”
Can Orlando Pirates still win the league?
