Former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus is believed to be on the verge of signing for a new club.
Erasmus left Pirates for the second time at the end of the previous season, after falling out of favour.
Pirates released quite a number of players in the previous window, as they made space for a new batch. Souaibou Marou, Fortune Makaringe, Erasmus, Richard Ofori, Thabang Monare, Vincent Pule and Siyabonga Mpontshane were all offloaded by Pirates. Those being players who have seen their deals at expire at the club, with management deeming them surplus to requirements.
Pirates released Erasmus
Now having been in the wilderness for about seven months, it seems as if Erasmus will get a new club. According to iDiski Times, his next stop after leaving Pirates will be to go home and play for Chippa United!
Now set to join Chippa United
“Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus is closing in on a move to Chippa United. Erasmus,34, has been a free agent since leaving Pirates before the beginning of the current season. This publication has since established that he has been training with the Chilli Boys and was with them before they faced Kaizer Chiefs as they narrowly lost 1-0. There are already talks between Erasmus’ camp and Chippa as they aim to boost their striking department with experience. With Kwanele Kopo stepping down as the head coach, it remains unclear if that will have an impact on the talks, with United set to return to training on 3 January 2025 and will hope that the deal with Erasmus is sealed by then.” Wrote the publication.
This would signal a homecoming for Erasmus who was born in Gqeberha. He left early to join the School of Excellence before being snapped up by SuperSport United. Is signing for Chippa the right move for the player? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below,
