FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS STARS RECEIVE R117 000 WINDFALL FROM PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA

Zimbabwe’s national football team has now qualified for the last four AFCON tournaments in which it has participated.

However, they only missed the last one due to a FIFA ban. During the qualifications, the Warriors pulled a show, and the two former Kaizer Chiefs stars were instrumental during the campaign.

Khama Billiat dumped the Soweto giants in the eleventh hour and returned to the fold after retiring from international football. Khama Billiat netted the winner against Namibia and assisted during the qualifiers.

After sealing their qualification, the Zimbabwean team received a hero’s welcome, and weeks later, the president rewarded them for their efforts.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was the guest of honour at the Congratulatory Ceremony for the Zimbabwe national team following their qualification for 2025.

The national team players and several government officials, Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, attended the congratulatory ceremony.

However, during his speech, the president announced that he was gifting the whole squad and its technical team’s staff $6 500, which amounts to R117 000 for their efforts.

The Ministry of Information and several news outlets have since confirmed the news.

Soccer24 Zimbabwe posted, “Each Warriors player and each member of the technical team has been handed US$6500 by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a token of appreciation for their AFCON qualification.”

Former Kaizer Chiefs stars Khama Billiat and Teenage Hadebe were spotted in the mix in the now-viral photos.

No doubt the photos and videos have since gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped online.
